Nails blue

Hey Dolls!

With Spring slowly making an appearance, it is time to bring out the bright nail polishes. This polish is by Orly called “Frisky”. This shade of blue is super cute and it is bringing out my happy soul. Is it just me that feels happier in the warmer months?

Hey guys!

Today was actually SO nice here. It was sunny with a high of 6 degrees! It might not seem warm for a lot of you but considering the fact that it was -40 degrees less then a month ago, I would say I was burning! :) Anyways, I had a pretty nice day, just enjoying the little things that life has to offer. How is your week-end going?

Clinique

by Jenn on February 17, 2013

IMG_6219 IMG_6263 IMG_6267

Hey guys!

So my friend at work told me about Black Honey. It isn’t a lipstick nor a lip gloss. It’s almost a lipstick.  She told me that it would go great with my natural lip color. I am not into make-up but I decided to try it out. I went to the Clinique booth in the mall to see what it was all about. Black Honey was nice but I immediately fell in love with Chic Honey! Although the colour appears to be really dark, it is actually quite light and subtle. While I was there , they had this promotion: Spend $31 dollars and get a free gift!

I’ve had problems with acne for the longest time. My skin has significantly improved when I introduced juicing to my diet.  However, it seems like I am breaking out again lately so I decided to purchase the Clinique 3-step acne system. I will keep you updated on how I like it. The contents of the free gift are displayed in the picture above. I don’t care much for the make-up but how can I pass up free stuff? :)

Sexy Can I?

Happy Valentine’s day!!!

I hope you guys enjoy this day and remember, it is the simple things in life that we often forget!

~~

Hair

As you probably know by now, I cut my hair and I ABSOLUTELY love it. Healthy hair is so much more easier to style. I have less breakage and tangles. Granted, I do have way less hair to deal with but I am telling you, I am in love. I achieved this style with Goody perm rods, which I purchased from Walmart for $1.50! What a steal!

I started with washed and conditioned hair as usual and used the Giovanni Direct Leave in. I also used my shea butter mix to seal in the moisture. I set my hair with the rods and made sure that my hair was completely dry before taking down the twists.

New Beginnings

by Jenn on February 1, 2013

IMG_5656bIMG_5535bIMG_5665bIMG_5463bhair cute surpriseb

Hey Loves,

If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know this: I did the Big Chop!. It’s been a long time coming. I have been contemplating cutting my hair for months now. I’ve shared my thoughts on this matter on YouTube a while back as well. Anyways, I finally decided to start over. Although my hair was long, I knew that it was not healthy.

As a matter of fact, my hair was damaged beyond repair: I had a lot of single strand knots and split ends. My hair was always dry and tangled, no matter what I did. I was not retaining much length either as I was experiencing a lot of breakage. As many of you can probably see, my ends were thin and my hair was dull overall. Needless to say, I knew it was time to have a fresh start.

I am extremely happy with my hair cut. I actually LOVE my hair. For the first time ever, I am satisfied with my hair and accept the way it is. I am finally enjoying my hair as I am no longer focused on length.

Is YOUR hair damaged? Some signs include:

-Breakage

-No sheen/shine

-Hair feels dry, scratchy, rough or hard

-No length retention

-Consistent hair thickness from roots to ends

-Consistent color from roots to ends

Remember, once your hair is damage, there is no fixing it! You can try to temporality patch it to together with conditioners but damage is irreversible!

Cascade Cool

by Jenn on January 27, 2013

IMG_5736BIMG_5750 IMG_5728 IMG_5730BIMG_5733BHey guys,

I am usually not into pink nail polishes, but this one took my heart away! Essie’s Cascade Cool is light pastel pink color with a  creamy finish. I randomly came across this color on the Nail Polish Canada site and immediately fell in love.

This polish cost me $9.75,  which is a bit on the pricey side, but it is simply a gorgeous color.

What are some of your faves nail polishes at the moment?

Hey guys!

I am finally getting around to upload this style that I did over the holidays. It was super cold/snowy, but that doesn’t stop one from looking super cute right?

Hair

I used flexi rods to accomplished this look and I absolutely loved the results.

1. I washed and conditioned my hair using Tresemme Naturals.

2. I used Fleurtzy Curls Nurture Cream to style (Love this her products).

3. I used a hooded dryer to speed up the process but you can just let your hair set over night.

4. Used a little extra virgin olive oil to fluff my hair and VOILA!

So, Today is my Birthday…

by Jenn on January 19, 2013

photoHi all,

I know I have been gone for a while now.  To be honest, I find it hard to keep up with the blog and my YouTube channel at the same time. Mind you, I still work two jobs, have a life and go to school! *Shrug*.  I need to prioritize my life, in order to keep the blog alive.

In any case, I really wanted to write a post.  I turn 23 today. However, I no longer “celebrate” my birthday. January, in general, is a really tough month for me.  My father passed away 3 years ago. I was really close to him, so it is still extremely hard for me to deal with it.  I usually refrain from doing ANYTHING that entire month. I know it might not be healthy, but it is how I express my grief. He passed away between January 12 and January 17, 2010. How can that be, you might wonder.

Remember that massive earthquake that took place in Haiti in 2010? Well, my dad was one of the unfortunate souls that passed away. He was at work when it happened. He worked downtown Port-Au-Prince and the building collapsed with him trapped inside. We, my family and I, were so hopeful until the very end. On January 17th, after 5 days of digging through the rumbles, my mom finally found his body. I never got to see it nor have I been to his funeral. My mom buried him the same day as the body was already in such bad shape. She didn’t want to wait for us to make travel arrangement as planes were barely flying in Haiti at that point. My mom was fortunate enough to even be able to bury him because there we no more spots to bury anyone in a cemetery. She was reserving this spot for my grandmother, who was sick at the time, so she was able to use it for my father.

Needless to say, I lost part of me that week. I was bitter for the longest time. Out of all the people that survived, why couldn’t he? Maybe God works in mysterious ways, but the pain that I felt then and still feels now is truly inexplicable. I remember being so angry then, yet devastated at the same time. I was angry at God, simply put. How can he allow something like this?  I just couldn’t stop thinking about all the families that were affected, all the people mourning, and an entire country in so much pain! I’ve learn to let my anger go, however, or it would have just taken over me. I learned to trust God, as he wouldn’t put us through anything that we wouldn’t be able to handle.

I don’t think I will ever be able to celebrate another birthday while dealing with something like this. To be honest, I just try to keep myself busy. I made my first YouTube video back in January 12, 2010 in order to take my mind off of things. I never really speak about my experience but today, I’ve decided to share it with you all.

Thank you for reading!
